July 26, 2024 - Congress today passed a constitutional amendment that raised the age requirement to run for President. The new age is 35 years, and it was previously 29. The new requirement will require all candidates running for President to be 35 years instead of the previous 29 years old. This new limit was proposed back in 2022, and Congress just passed it.
"We are thankful to everyone who made this age change possible," said Speaker LeWolf. "This change was necessary for the survival of the Presidency itself, and the need to have experienced officials in the Nationalist House."
She continued to explain that Republican Presidential Nominee Jay Laylin would be the only exception to the rule because "he was already registered and met all requirements before the age requirement changed."
Deputy Speaker Matthew Carrington and other officials have reiterated that she was NOT required to allow him to carry on his campaign.
